Default rub 1.44 questions

i have just installed rub 1.44 and have a few questions:

1. does anyone know the command and text insert to return my sub detail as it was on the map pre-rub? i'm having a little difficulty getting used to the dot mostly cause i can't determine my direction other than checking the heading dial....

2. i presume the red dashes are warship contacts when engaged? but what is the red cone of red dashes eminating from the front of my sub, the dot, when not engaged?

and boy howdy, is it dark at nite!

thanks!

The red dashes are warship contacts by the hydrophones. You don't have to be engaged it's whatever your SO hears.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but I have a question of my own on the dashes, is the enemy ship located at the end of the dashes or is that just the direction of the sound? Because those things get damned hard to see sometimes.

The idea behind them is that you're not supposed to be able to figure out the distance. With the standard contact line you could determine the exact distance to any target, which was unrealistic.

I've got a question too....

How can I edit the ship tonnages back to the original values? And which files need to be edited?

RUb doesn't alter any of SH3's standard ship tonnages as far as I'm aware.

I thought in the readme one of the lines said it lowered the tonnage for medium and large cargo ships? It was the one line that did not list which files were altered.

In answer to the first question in the thread, if you look at the RuB readme, it lists what changes were made, and which files go with which changes. I've learned alot about modding SH3 just from this one mod. There is a line in there refering to the map symbols, although I don't remember which files offhand. Just find the corrosponding original file and look for changes.
