Default RUB 1.44 and Sergbutos Add On freighters?

I have been wondering for a while, why I didn't come across Sergbutos add on freighters (KGN and PTR) made from the passenger transport and the commerce raider, so I just had a look at the RND campaign file and found out that - although Sergbutos add on freighters are included in RUB - they are not included in the RND layer.
Is that a bug or a feature?

I believe they will spawn for RND groups that spawn "generic" merchant ships.

LOL... :rotfl: ...ok, serious now...

Then how come I've come across those Large Cargo ships before?

...because many RND groups spawn generic cargo ships. Not just specific ones. Meaning they will spawn as long as they're in the British/other roster. Which they are.

Oh all right then thanks for the answer. I already thought someone took them out of RUb 1.44. Must be my tough luck that they keep avoiding me

Just to get this straight: Does that mean that the Hospital Ships and any other merchants may spawn as generics in convoys as well?
AND are there also generic warships in the RND layer so that future AI warships may be spawned in the campaign?

Not the hospital ships. They are 103; troop ship category. The generic merchants are usually 102=cargo and some 101=tanker.

Replacing a 102 with 103 generic is not a good idea as you would get any troopship and those would not be likely outside a convoy.
I have added the PTR to the single ships because, although in the 103 it was not actually a troop ship and I have added some of the NHOS as they were more likely to travel alone.

I beleive Jason made some generic escorts but not sure as I use my own RND file where, with the C-Class having DCs I have made all the DDs generic so I can not guess the convoy from past experience. personal choice.
I do this to improve game play and not for historical accuracy. The only destroyers to escort convoys (other than rare cases) were the V&W (old engines not sutible for fleet work), Hunt class and the converted A-H classes to convoy escorts (wrongly called River class in SH3)
I wish we could make the Hunt and V&W classes DE types so there could be a better selection of what really escorted convoys and still vary.

We can, can't we? If you open the cfg. file for each ship, you can change it's type... From type 4 to 3, or vice versa.

Tried it, CTD.
It can be done but the Hex editing is long and must be perfect or CTD.

Have not had the time to try it as of late.
