Q1) You've just done a full patrol and not found a single ship/convoy? Q2) You use Hydrophones to locate ships but can't find anything? Q3) you sneak into harbours but don't find anything worthwhile. To answer these in turn:- A1) Did you stay out until you were low on fuel? or did you go to the patrol grid for 24 hrs and return to base? If the latter, stay out longer and use your convoy routes map to target likely area's for high activity. A2) The way i stalk with Hydrophones is submerge-listen, Surface and sprint on the bearing given by the hydrophone operator. Then after about 20 mins game time submerge and repeat until i find the ship. A3) Harbours don't always have lads of targets in them. After all you are supposed to be hunting convoys at sea. If you do want to play in very shallow waters you could try Loch Ewe or Scarpa Flow. At certain times in the war you can get carriers there. Gibralter can have juicy targets as well sometimes. Did i get the right answers? If not try to split different questions/problems into different sentences/paragraphs as it makes it easier for none english first language speakers to help you. |

The tip about stopping and checking the hydrophones until you can get a visual is a good one. I usually draw a 20km circle around my position when i first detect a ship, so I have an idea how far I can sail before I consider a target "lost". Just remember in bad weather (especially with RuB) you may not get a visual until it's right on top of you! ![]()

I stayed out till i was low on fuel but eerytime i got a contact the weather was so bad or I couldnt find them in other cases i tried to get to them in good weather and didnt find them. I aslo went to ewe and Scapa Flow and didnt find anything but DD breathing down my neck. Ill continue to use the map I got with the game I guess even though I have not found 1 convoy using it. I see 4 dashes on my map when a contact was found I then adjust to were I am ahead of the target then speed to them then pariscope depth then repeat and I cant find them hardly ether I over shoot or undershoot and they get away.

http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=44108 I still haven't seen a convoy, I don't think they are very common.
