I read in the uboat.net page on the Schorkel that the boats could only travel at 6knots underwater with the schorkel raised, otherwise the thing would snap off.
As we've noticed, you can go pretty much as fast as on surface with the snorkel ingame. Is there any hope in hell of modding this? |

Why modding?
Just make sure that you don't exceed 6 knots. Then it's realistic ![]() Do you mean that the snorchel should break if the sub was forced to have higher speed? Is that the mod you mean? |

I really dont think it needs modded..
Just do as a real captain would..before you raise the snorkel go to the speed controls and order 6 knots..then raise the snorkel. |

I'm agree with Gammel.
oRGy's idea of snorkel fix is very interesting, it could be very realistic. Cruising with extended snorkel at max velocity is arcade gaming. |

To me a real captain has to control his boat through orders to the crew.Its your responsibility to make sure things are done right. Just like in the game Sub Command...you could not deploy the radar mast,radio mast without first ordering your ship to the proper speed yourself..then ordering the mast to be raised.If you tried to raise it while above maximum speed for it then it was destroyed. It shoud be the same here...To me it should not be automatic.Though the being damaged/destroyed mod I like the idea of.Though what would be the point if the speed was automaticlly set for you to even mod the damge to it? To each their own. |
