Default Tracking Mod?

Hi all,
I’ve recently got SH3 after finding it in the bargain bin, and am really getting back into the whole sub sim thing. I used to be mad keen on SH1, but got bored with the regenerating ships always turning up in the same place. I must have sunk the Yamato about 15 times
I’ve put the GWX and SH3Commander expansions and patches on, and while it sends my poor little pc into conniptions, it struggles by, and is more than worth it in gameplay terms. I have had many questions about the game, most of which have been answered by a quick search on this treasure trove of a forum, but there is one that eludes me.
Is it possible to get a mod that marks your sub’s movements on the Nav map? That way you could get a trace on where you have been and the manoeuvres you have taken. It would be of no real use in terms of strategy, just more of an interest thing for me
Thanks for all your help, I’m off back to the west coast of Scotland in my trusty Type IIA!

Hi and welcome to subsim. I don't know of a mod that does what you are looking for but SH3Gen Tracking room edition might shed some light on the subject.

I don;t think it tracks actual movements but will track where ships etc are at a given point when SH3Gen is run. The other nice thing is that it gives you configurable intelligence reports on what shipping is about.

Gute Jagd!

I'd like something like that too.

But on the other hand, once on patrol for a couple of days, my nav-map usually looks quite scattered with marks and lines, as I normally put every contact on it, using the normal map-tools.
I use 1 mark (the X) for a ship, 1 mark+small circle around it for a plane, and 1 mark+big circle for a task-force, and then a line that roughly indicates the object's course.
A convoy gets 4 X's, placed in a diamond-shape along a course-line.

Depending on the time of the war - July'44 in my case - one glimpse on the map reveals where I've been everywhere, with a very discomforting accuracy.
