Default Mod idea.....

Wouldn't it be so much easier if there was a mod that enabled us Kapitane's to swap over the crew positions instantly with just a single button push?? That way, you could set up 2 rotating shifts that could be alternated by a single keystroke. I find that however carefully I manage the crew, I always lose track of which crewman was at which duty station, and I like to maintain a one on one rotating shift where the same crewmen man the same position, always relieving each other. It would be so much easier if someone could come up with a mod to do this, any thoughts guys??

I just use the mod where they never get fatigue it saves alot of hassle. I use Berrys Basic1x .cfg file just replace this one with your original and say bye bye to fatigue

Thanks for your comments guys, it would be an interesting project for someone with modding experience, if only I knew what I was doing!

I like the fatigue element in the game, it makes things that bit more realistic if you are trying to engage a convoy but all of your men are exhausted, which in turn increases the chances of a total miss. I also love the way it reflects steadily decreasing performance ie a fully rested SO will detect contacts further out than a SO at 50%.

I'm just starting out on my third patrol, and at this stage of my career I've got a primary Petty Officer for each duty station, ie Sonar, Helmsman, Watchman and also a backup man who relieves him after his shift is done. These guys are easy to keep track of since they all have a qualification mark in their descriptions, but the seamen don't and so get assigned duty all over the boat. What bothers me the most is my Watch Crew getting lost upon a dive to PD. They automatically get sent to the Bow Torp room, so I have to manually switch the Diesel Engines crew into the Electrics room, then switch my former Watch crew into the Diesel room in order to prolong their endurance. Then when they get fatigued say 50%, other more rested crewmen get posted as the Watch crew automatically upon surfacing, and I have to then replace them with my intended backup Watch Crew, and set everything straight by putting everybody in their respective assigned positions. This can take up to four or five minutes sometimes, and has to be done all over again next time we submerge.

Why isn't modding easier??!!

You can editor your crew files, you change the digit from 2 to anything higher and your still have your fatigue but they will take longer to get fatigue. in your SH3 save folder, theres files in the CFG -> Data, CFG, Careers, edit the following for each crew memeber, heres an example

[CREW_MEMBER_9]
Name=Fritz Friederichs
Index=3
NrComp=-1
Type=2
Grad=6
Renown=0.000000
Patrols=0
Morale=0.800000
Fatigue=0.530000

Notice the Fatigue says 0.530000 well this is berry's basic1x mode, the original was 0.2 so the higher the number the long it takes for them to get fatigue. Also check morale as well.

Im not 100% correct cos i never made the basic1x you could ask him, but i do know thats how you change the crews fatigue.

Good hunting
