I've read a lot on this forum about the "sweet spot"... Now, in the past when I had a target in my sights, I did my calculations and let it rip. But I never actually aimed the torp anywhere (usually use magnetic detonation for a nice deadly hit right under the hull)... but you guys mentioned about being able to aim for a specific spot, so I'm assuming you're talking about impact only, right? Or are you guys referring to deck gun attacks?
I use RuB now, btw, just loaded it and restarted career. Also, always used the all vulnerability mod as well, which gives you the colored boxes in the rec manual... Anyway, am I completely off course here? Thanks for any info. ![]() |

When using either the recog manual with the colored squares or assisted targetting in the TDC, you can aim an impact torp at specific locations on the ship- usual fuel bunker, but ammo storage is good too. The boxes show up under 1000m with a 30 degree window around 345-015 and the recog manual open. The colored boxes reflect the boxes which show up on the recog manual, but they're slightly smaller in some areas...
Some folks have said that if you click on the relevant box in the Recog Manual it automatically aims the torp to that area, but I haven't seen that happen. |

I messed with it last night on a C3. I had an electric set for 10 m, to go off under the keel. I locked the scope on target, clicked the box for the keel and let go when it hit 000. It impacted the ship at the keel and she went down. I went back to TDC to check the settings, and they had changed the depth to a little under 9 and made it an impact instead of magnetic.

Very interesting
![]() I guess I'll play with it in a training scenario. Thanks. K. |

Make sure you lock the scope.

When I hunt tankers I always shoot in front of the bridge, right about the point of the first mast fore of the bridge...and of course that is only done with the targeting lock off. 1 shot = 1 kill everytime.
I will say that if you guys are lucky enough to spot a passenger liner that is enemy read place a eel at 5m right under the after smoke stack. She's stop like a rock. I had one eel last night and was on he way home after a successful convoy attack. The second convoy had a passenger liner, I hit the engine room and stopped her cold...waited a few days for warships and subsequent weather to become better so that I could finish her off with a deck gun....it was beauuuuuuuutiful. ![]() |

I set up my manual solution with the target locked, just before Im ready to fire I "unlock" the target and then hit the "check" box to accept the solution and then wait for the part of the ship I want to hit to pass through the cross-hairs...the fire. If I want to aim for the forward portion of the ship I "unlock" the target, move the cross-hairs forward of my forward aiming point, hit the "check" box to accept the solution and then fire when the point I want to hit passes through the cross-hairs.
I always aim for the smoke stacks first, its almost always a sweet spot, it will typically bring your target to a screeching halt, or slow it dramatically. My secondary target is the last 1/3 of the ship in hopes of blowing out the screws if the smokestack/boiler room hasnt crippled her already, and then my last priority is the first 1/3 of the ship. There is typically nothing up front but compartments to flood to help bring her down faster. The key is destroying the ship means of propulsion, plus the added benefit of the engine rooms potential to cause catastrophic secondary explosions/damage. If the 1-2 hits to the back dont bring her to a stop, or take her down quickly, the added weight in the front from the 2nd or 3rd torpedo's flooding of the nose will make the ship drive itself under. ![]() |
