Default Scapa Flow to Brest via Dover

ALMOST pulled it off too... pesky destroyer! I went out to AM81, patrolled that for almost a day, no contacts. I decide to sneak through the allied ports, went throught the Ireland - England corridor, picking up 11 destroyers on the way, but held Silent mode all the way through. I went into Scapa Flow, nothing docked. I then got out of Scapa Flow, around to Dover. Fired 2 fish at a docked destroyer, both missed and they turned their search lights on. I sat there waiting, listening to the pings from the destroyer.

Shortly after he discovered me, I noticed 3 lights instead of the one, not surprisingly another destroyer. I got past both of them and went down the channel and held silent untill night came. Since it was night, I decided to surface.

ALARM!!!!!!

Crash dive 35 meters, all silent, ahead slow, left rudder 40 degrees!!

Waiting for me was another destroyer. He caught my position, came over and missed with the first volley of DCs. I thought it was all clear as the contact was fading so I went back up to 23 meters (from 35 meters) and prepared to search for him. When I got up to 23 meters, got the dreaded message "Depth Charges in the Water Sir". This volley was well placed, the DCs hitting from my bow tubes back the conning tower. I was taking on water and sinking. With a second volley, the destroyer came back around and finished the job, the U-boot going down with 51 men (all hands lost).

All this excitement first thing in the morning kind of woke me up

I've had to campaigns going, U-124 and U-99, the latter, type VIIB was sunk. U-124 is currently returning from yet another patrol in Africa.
