Try as I might, I can not figure out how to ping that damned sonar. I know that its a bad idea to do it, as it gives away your position, but its driving me crazy not being able to do it. Could someone explain step by step how to ping the sonar.

What boat are you in and what period of the war? as this effects weather or not you have access to the button on the hydrophone station...
Someonelse can correct me if I'm wrong but don't you only get 'active' sonar pings on the XXI boats?

Don't you have to "buy" the Active sonar ?

Yes you can buy it for all(?) boats, in 1942 or thereabouts?
But I've seen someone mention here that only the XXI had it in real life...? To ping you only have to point the hydrophones in the direction of a contact (it must be listed on the notepad), then click the ping button on the lower left. You can also ask your sonar man to ask for distance to a contact, in which he will ping for you. Mind you the range may be totally wrong depending on the skill of you sonar man and how many times you ping it. Ping it until the value stabilizes. |
