Default DAMN, disaster struck

Scheisse

We were patrolling CF14 -- got radio traffic of a convoy CF59
so broke from our patrol to go looky.

I vector in so I am ahead of the convoy as normal and if i remain at 25 meters for while listenning to the approaching noise on hydrophone -- patiently waiting for the engine noise to be all around us-- Waiting for the right moment to pop up in the middle of the convoy and give it to the convoy from both ends of my XIB.

Turns out it was a task force and I came up to periscope depth 150 meters from a Huge destroyer -- I didnt check which, looked like a king george V, I just went into a flat panic -- i was already getting their deck guns.

I focused on the Hunt II Destroyer was just behind me and closing fast - tried to get off torps from my rear -- they just bounced off its hull as i was only able to fire when it was 290 meters away.

Both periscopes smashed in a few seconds as I try to crashdive, hearing the hull of the Hunt II ride over the coning tower-- then as a courtesy measure, i'm depthcharged to pieces

arrrrgh 1943 -- will I ever make it to 1945

U107 glug glug glug

New mission time

Sounds like your soundman needed a little lesson on counting rpm and noise profiles

Ive done the same thing except when I realized I was nearly in the middle of the TF I got the hell out of there.

Thanks for all the simpathy folks

Thing is, with SH3 -- I'm trying to maintain some realism in my gaming -- problem is U107 made it to the end of the war.

damn

was a damn fine boat too

@ Avon Lady -- my watch is at the top right hand edge of CF59 --- but it's a 1000 meters down -- I dunno if watches worked at those depths
