Default Crew Management Bug

Hi there. I'm new to the game and forum, so I apologize in advance if this is a commonly known issue.

After a battle while I'm submerged and my crew is tired, I'll click 'Submerged Cruise'. This will often cause the game to crash. Has anyone else experienced this?

One more crew management question: when I have too many crew for the available quarters space, why does it put the tired sailors in the unused compartments (torpedo, etc)? Isn't this sub-optimal?

Bug? Yes, I've been playing for months and after a handful of crashes I no longer use the "auto-assign". It's best to simply click, drag, and drop.

Subs had rotating shifts. In our gaming world of SHIII, most people won't place anyone into the torpedo rooms, for example, until a combat situation. With that in mind there will never be enough spots in the quarters to handle all the crew.

Personally, I usually do not fill up with seaman in my boats for that very reason, I just don't want to have tired crew in compartments where they are fatiguing any more. It's more a question of not having to move that many more crewmen.

After a few 40,000k in tonnage patrols you can earn the coveted Iron Cross with Gold (golf circle). The crewmen you give that to will not fatigue at all. The catch, to earn one you have to award the iron cross 1st and 2nd class first...in essence if you started a new career in '39 the earliest you can earn the iron cross with gold would be after completing the 3rd patrol.

One note: only petty officers and officers can be given the iron cross with gold.
