Yesterday in the morning my DVD writer died, no possibility to see any disk. I wrote to the Starforce team, they replied asking me some information system files, then gave me some advices to make my DVD drive working again. Unfortunately the device refused to revive. I tried to run SH3 on the DVD player and it started to turn like a crazy on the disk check. Then the SF support give me a new key to exclude the disk check, but the disk is necessary because the SF protection have to read the disk label. SH3 can't run without the SF driver.
This morning I returned my killed DVD drive to the supplier and he gave me another similar working drive. The SF support told me that it is not possible that the protection system killed my DVD drive.
Anyway their support was excellent, much better than their software.
Here some numbers:
2 days to resolve the problem
22 email messages
1 DVD drive killled by unknown circumstances, a coincidence whit a real hardware failure is possible
4 persons in sequence from the SF support followed my problem

Fortunately tomorrow I can relax my nerves, I'll go to work.

:rotfl:

Well I couldn't understand what all of this SF fuss was all about until I recently tried to copy one of my own DVD's to the PC (Das Boot!). I tried over and over again, and got an error message in mid operation each time, and couldn't understand what was happening. Then suddenly I went a-haa! Star Force!

Then I gave up...

By the way cunnutazzo, I've been to your city when I was very young. My mother says that just as we were about to go up in your famous bent tower I poo poo'd in my diapers, and she had to take me somewhere to change them while the rest of the family went up...

yeah, right. Excellent. I guess their "excellency" is the reason why I emailed them twice with my problem 1 month ago and I'm still sitting and waiting for ONE answer (and is good that Im sitting 'cause I could wait forever).

In the meantime I tried with ubisoft support, and in the end I think it was better that they had payed no attention. They asked me what was my problem -in different ways of asking it- around 4 times (and they even asked me to write it in spanish) ,and after that they asnwered no more.

SH3 is a magnific product sold by a band of incompetents and protected by a group of malware-producers. Never again I will buy anything published by ubisoft, or protected by Starforce.

Hello,
sorry, i really forgot this post

I am able to play again after two weeks of forced withdrawal.
The DVD rom had committed suicide and taken the SH3 disk with it (scratches and cracks - probably not SF-related). OK, got an exchange SH3 game (guarantee - they would not have had to do it, after all the DVD rom destroyed it) and bought a new DVD rom. I get the "unable to access disk" message very seldom now (every 10th time or so). The ability to write CDs with the Ricoh burner still depends on uninstalling Starforce first. I've come to live with it ...
Greetings,
Catfish
