![]() ![]() ![]() I have tried to give her up - we have been together now for 3 years. She has been faithful and true, but I regret that my eyes have been taken by a sleek lady whose a bit stand-offish but is full of spirit. She even throws a heck of a punch when shes in the mood ![]() But I cant abandon my dear old Seawolf for that sassy Akula. She may be a looker but shes as blind as a bat ![]() She's passive , she just languishes out there waiting for me to make the first move. I'm trying to learn her ways but can anyone out there persuade me its worth the effort ? ![]() |

There are GOD-knows-how-many commanders using the Seawolf, how do you wish to excel among them?
The Akula makes you an offer of conquering the title as Queen of the Sea (or King, depending on your likes/dislikes) without actually having the very best equipment, and not being the most silent around. She encourages patience, and a deadly silence before striking the foe by thunder. You can never be found in the Seawolf, less you make a grave mistake. What thrill is there? ![]() Only using the Akula may you fully enjoy sinking another Seawolf, hopefully destroying the feeling of invincibility that the other commander had in his/her ship. And with the Akula, you only need to click half as many times to execute the same tasks as with the Seawolf.

![]() ![]() You can see many old SC divers who favoured the SW now take the Ak. in DW. It is easy to see why as there is now a greater variety of challenge available to the Ak.diver. ![]() Getting your head into the new role is not too difficult but adapting to the downgrading in sonar performance is not. Its like losing the SWs headlight main beam and only having a dipped beam with the Ak. Then ,for you nocturnal rabbit shooters, your handed a riifle with a telescopic sight. You can kill long-distance but you cant see ! ![]() Generaly you are placed in the defensive reactive role - initialy I hasten to add ! ![]() But the ace the Ak diver has is the ability to send plenty to keep the SW diver very busy, possibly distracted, allowing the Aker to gain the tactical ascendancy. ![]() Thats another reason why I am jumping ship - if only I could get used to 'driving on dipped headlights.' ![]() How do you Akers do it ? ![]() |

easy let the target walk infront of my headlights
![]() akula is the best platform easy to use and control weapons are more and normaly you dont have to worry about running out or reloads like the 688 of sea wolf because you got 14 tubes to 8 or 4 so it gives an advantage there im to go to bed write later

The many torpedoes does give a splendid upper hand: Even in MP, you're likely never to need a reload - and if so, only a very few - to get things your way.

![]() ![]() ![]() Yep - all that ordnance makes the mouth water. It would be very interesting to know which is the most successful killer of the Aks weapons. Guess I'll ask that too. ![]() See Poll. But - back on topic as a new Ak recruit I genuinely want to know how do YOU do it ? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() A rough proportion would give a better picture - so if your an Akula experienced diver what kill success have you had with various weapons ? For example :- Versus SW Stallion X % Type 53 Y %. 65 W % Shkval Z %....etc Versus FFG Stallion W % etc..... What combos do you favour against which targets ? ![]() I guess we give mein Kapitain some bragging-rights here ? ![]() |

hahahahaha :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: lol
if i tell you the truth i dont acctualy shoot at much reason is because i prefer tracking and getting in close i normaly sit around 3 to 6 knots and listen some time it good to extend towed array some times not but hey the closer you get to a enamy platform the more types of weapons you can use stallion is totaly crap i dont use it at all nor the SS-N-27 ASW i prefer the normaly torpedos. the 53cm is good if fired 5 miles or less from target same with the 53-65K the best and one i use most is the 65cm because of its 27 mile range and i dont have to get to close (i prefer around 15 20 miles) with this weapon i have sunk many ships including nimitz carriers to 688 submarines http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...hgoingdown.bmp here is the british ark royal going down she took three direct 65cm torpedo hits i was very close but needed a confimed kill so instead of using the 53cm or 53-65k i had to use the 65cm because it would almost garentee a kill as its wire guided, also in the picture is the type 23 frigate argyll she also took 2 53cm hits and went down along side the ark http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ain01/DIVE.bmp kuznetsov aircraft carrier chinluck sinks after being fired at by me with 4 65cm torpedos from a distance of 15 miles http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...in01/TRACK.bmp but this is what i prefer tracking another unit up close if you notice the chinease xia is only about 300 yards from me ![]() ![]()

My Akula loadouts:
ASW 1-2 SS-N-16 3-4 65 cm 1-8 53 cm 1-4 ex SS-N-27 ASW 5-6 ex Mine ASUW 1-4 65 cm or SS-N-27 ASM 1-8 53-65 or SS-N-27 ASM 1-4 ex SS-N-27 ASM 5-6 ex Mine Generally I score my kills with the SS-N-27 ASW missile, the 27 ASW arrives on target much faster than a conventional torpedo and the 27's warhead (torpedo) is much faster than nearly any other torpedoes. I've seen SW and 688i get killed with this weapon and had only about 10 seconds warning. The SUBROCs also give you the advantage of remaining covert since the launch is very hard to detect. Another tactic, against a skilled SW skipper I drop four SS-N-27s in a bracketing pattern around the sub and four 65 cm fish once the SS-N-27s arrive on target. If in range I also fire 53cm and Shkval torpedoes (Shkvals down the bearing and 53s in a spread). Finally I fire the two mines behind me as I begin my evasion. |

Theres a lot to chew over there thanks.
![]() I have got a bit dependent on the UUVs and previously with the SW in ASW MP usualy found room for 2. Notice you guys dont load them - any reason ? Would have thought , with all those tubes, theres plenty of room. Moreover at least when we counterfire the SW with 65s as stage two, and run we can keep a bead on the SW and refine TMA. ![]() Again the Shkval - if you are dropped into knife-fight proximity a broadside (Shotgun blast) up the SW's bilges will get the SW diver dancing on the back foot ? :hmm: (Excuse the mixed metaphors) ![]() |
