One monitor two computers at the same time

I am thinking about buying one of those new ultra wide monitors.

What I would like to do is have computer 1's display on one half of the monitor and computer 2's display on the other half so I can used both computers at the same time independently of each other.

Is this something that can be done with those new ultra wide monitors?

I am trying to move from multiple displays to one display to safe space.

From what I have been reading, something called

Picture by Picture (as opposed to Picture in Picture)

Might work.

Anyone have experience with PbP?
