Silent Hunter 3 StarForce Protection

I bought and played Silent Hunter 3 several years ago. Originally I had trouble playing it due to the StarForce protection guard, but I finally got it to run. I have Silent Hunter 1, Silent Hunter 2, Silent Hunter 4 and Silent Hunter 5 and play them all, but I’m stuck on getting my original Silent Hunter 3 CD disc to run because I can’t get passed the StarForce protection screen. I’ve tried some of the recommendations I’ve found on the Internet, but none of them seem to work. Can someone please tell me a reliable way to get past the StarForce protection and then load the Silent Hunter v1.4b patch so I can play this old game?

Eh... there used to be something in the Downloads here (Mods link up top), but I could not find anything... Perhaps Black Swan will come along shortly...

Starforce was a particularly nasty form of copy protection from Russia (of course!) that permanently installed a driver on your PC. A modern version of windows (I think windows 10 onwards) will do its utmost to stop starforce doing this. The starforce removal tool got rid of this nasty thing from your drive but would not help you run protected games.
To run SH3 from the original disk you need to get the "SH3 no disk patch", which can be found with a bit of googling. Maybe some nice person on the forum will send it to you. However my advice would be to shell out a small amount of money and buy the thing again on Steam where Starforce is long gone. Alternatively download the Onealex mod as this includes unprotected and much patched versions of the affected executables.
