Silent Hunter V - Some questions from befor buying

Good day!

I have played back then extremely much silent hunter 3 and 4 and had great time but never bought part 5 because it had so bad reviews at release. I would once again like to play a silent hunter game and wanted to ask in the round like the state of the game is? Has ubisoft the bugs mostly fixed? What about mods, i played "fall of the rising sun" for part 4 which improved the game extremely, are there similar mod packs for part 5 that improve the game significantly or other mod recommendations? What about the mulitpayer, can you still play the game online with others, if necessary via third party software?

I'm not sure about multiplayer but with The Wolves of Steel mod the game is excellent. Without that mod I wouldnt purchase it.

Welcome aboard!

With The Wolves of Steel (TWoS combination of mods, all-in-one), the game is very good. I think SH3 with mods (GWX, his versions, or NYGM, etc), continue to be the standard for german U-Boats, because the superbe gameplay, but TWoS for SH5 is a huge improvement over SH5 vanilla, and very very enjoyable. Don't buy it of you want to play only vanilla...

SH5 with TWoS and Real Navigation mode have something that no other naval sim had so far - working celestial navigation! That`s right. You can literally disable all the hints on the navigation map and do the whole plotting, dead reckoning, land features fixing, radio beacon fixing and celestial fixing yourself!
The immersion is unparalleled
