How to change the U-boat Type by editing the save files in Twos

Hi Captains
Could somebody introduce how to change the U-boat Type by editing the save files in Twos?
I played until the middle stages of the war. And I still do not get the chance to change my U-boat. Then it is hard for me to arrive the east coast of the United States due to lack of fuel.
Although I know how to re-fuel at the sea by change the save file according to the tutorial post. However, I still want to know is there a method to modify the save file to change my U-boat type when I run the game next time?

I don't think so, because there are too many different but interdependent files. I tried it in the past but failed every time with CTD's.


Maybe someone here knows more.
