I don't know anything about the motogp championship.
Once upon a time, I had raced motocross motorcycles.I quit racing as those guys were just crazy. There are a few guys here who ride motorcycles or have in the past, myself included. Neal, Reece, Hunter ICX and Shroeder spring to mind. I ride cruisers, exclusively. I have a few motorcycles I acquired for little more than their frames to do some experimental work. I also acquired a Suzuki gsxr 4 cylinder 750 engine. It boasts better than 155 Hp and 63 foot lbs of torque. It also has fuel injection. On the sport bike, it has a top speed of 175 mph / 281.5 Kph. I am flirting with the idea of installing the engine into a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with the corresponding changes / replacement of the swing arm and back wheel. I have wondered if there might be a clearance issue with the four exhaust tubes and the two down tubes of the motorcycle frame. It would have the characteristics of a sport motorcycle in a cruiser frame. Kawasaki had this same philosophy with the limited production of the Kawasaki ZL 600, 900 and big brother 1000 cc Eliminator motorcycles. More than likely, I will install a Harley Davidson XG 750 V twin engine in the Vulcan. It would get gas mileage approaching 60mpg and have acceptable performance. Unfortunately, the Harley engine has a short stroke that somewhat limits it in highway cruising. It is also a belt drive system. If I go that route, I may put a smaller pulley at the rear wheel to give it reduced RPM's at highway speeds and relaxed cruising. Fortunately, The Harley XG 750 also has a six speed transmission which makes this application a bit more viable. Last edited by Commander Wallace; 10-14-22 at 07:13 AM. |
