Default the Year of The Tiger.

Every year for the Chinese Lunar New Year, the City Council here in Sydney, commissions "Street Art" of the animals from the Chinese calendar.

Most of the statues are so so...but this big boy down at Circular Quay is really impressive. No doubt inflated with hot air from council meetings.

I thought I'd share the pics with my global Subsim buddies.

I like tigers, I wish they were this big .

Anything special happening in Chinatowns where you all are ???

That's awesome, Eisenwurst. Over the years, I have been in a few cities in the U.S and a big yellow duck was making the rounds. I still don't know what that was about.

Thanks CW. A few years back, one of the animal statues, I think it was the goat, was....shall we say...."molested".... by a drunk.

That's a good reason not to drink, Eisenwurst. Otherwise, a drunk bugger may be getting someone's goat.

I don't know big E but apparently, it wasn't enough.

Seriously, the " Big duck was like Eisenwurst's inflatable tiger, only much larger.

Me too, a snake ( yuck ).

I'd much rather be a Tiger. Tigers ( the animals ) are noble and magnificent creatures. We've got a few in our zoo, and you can sit by their enclosure ( thick glass separating them and you ) and make eye contact, and they sit real close to you and you can "commune" with them, and feel the POWER radiate from them.

I wish life was more fair for them.

@ Kai. You got a Chinatown where you are?

No, not at all, only a very small kurdish community here. I did not even hear from any town in Germany with anything like they have abroad
There was something like that in Hamburg ("Han Bao"~Fortress of the chinese, but dissolved in 1944. Hamburg is partner city of Shanghai, so there are efforts to do more together; usually a "chinatown" is also a tourist magnet for any city), and there is a smaller chinese center in the city of Duesseldorf.
