surface cruise mode game freeze

i have had the game freeze twice now when i hit the surface cruise mode button. is this a known issue?

Yes, absolutely. The crew configuration buttons cause the game to crash. Best to always move crew individually.

That button, & if memory serves... the rest of those... are best to be avoided using... like the plague.!

As, stork100 said, is best to do all crew movements... manually... for things that are covered by those buttons.

The Officer's orders section... where the icons of officer's if you have them, depending on what mode your running... be it stock or a mega mod set... is still safe to use... like as with the watch officer, ordering crew to the deck gun or flak gun... & ordering them to target an enemy...

Those there, are safe to utilize.

with so many clever people modding this game for the past 17 yrs how is it that this has not been fixed?:: im not clever enough to understand how complicated programming a game like this is.

Three reasons:
1. For some people they work. I.e., me. Just like the "constant storms" weather bug. Some have it, some don't.
2. Most likely is hard coded thus unable to be fixed easily.
3. Most don't care anyway as right/left clicking on any two compartments desired does the same thing with the crew more or less.
Also if you're running NYGM per your signature's list (btw, you don't have NYGM installed correctly per that list) I'm surprised you can do anything with them, as NYGM disables them completely anyway.
