We didn't buy one. They were all $90.00 and we felt that was ridiculous.
And, by the way, beautiful tree.

No pics this year, have no tree, nor have my parents, but last year . My mum felt like wanting to have one once more. Strangely we all had a strange farewell feeling last year, thinking that maybe it would, be the last time we all would have a united and "good" christmas day experience with tree and good feelings and us all three around. While my parerents both still live (early and mid-70s), that this time things went different meanwhile became obvious indeed.
No pics, sorry, but a short film. The tree comes in the second half of it. The crib btw was done and painted by my mum in the early 70s, she was in her late twenties then. We live din Lübeck, and the stones were collected at the brodtner Ufer of the Baltic, near Travemünde. I still remember the day of that walk, I was at elementary school. Nice squirreltree there indeed, Eichhörnchen. But I cannot see the drey? P.S. I think we should leave it to presenting our trees. You see, everybody decorating a christmas trees does it the way he likes it, and why risking to hurt somebody by not listing his creation" high enough". Its no competition, but a family festivity of joy and beauty, memories and company and good feelings, hopefully. Lets leave it to that! ![]()

Took some pics of our Community Christmas Tree today. I'm surprised it's still standing and hasn't been nicked.
Tried to post them here ....but my card reader went kaput. Pics later hopefully. ![]()

No tree this time, we wanted to plant a smaller one outside that we can decorate every year without cutting, but it has to be one that remains small.. and frankly while we succeeded in almost finishing the house, the garden had to wait
![]() Yes, beautiful tree Eichhörnchen ![]()

What is that papyrus roll-kind of thing on the second pic? I have never seen anything like that before on a christmas tree. A dwarf squirrel drey?

^ It's a Christmas 'cracker'... there's a tradition of putting them on the tree over here... which has reminded me that I clean forgot to hang our little crackers on our own tree last night

Ah, the differences in regional customs and habits. Over here, that is unknown, I have never seen it before.

Inside each cracker is a little friction-operated firework, which goes "SNAP!" when two people take hold of either end and pull. Then a small charm or gift falls out of the torn cracker (usually a cheap toy, but in the more up-market ones you might get a miniature set of playing cards or a pen or some dice) also a paper party hat and a slip of paper with a lame joke on it: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...47&postcount=1)
The crackers are usually placed next to each table setting so that diners can pull them with the person sitting next to them. I hate the things but Moira loves them. She hasn't bought any this year... good-oh!

I see. A booby-trapped squirrel drey. Making the nuts fly.

![]() ![]() Here's our Community Christmas Tree in Sodom and Gomorrah - Kings Cross, Sydney. It was a cold, rainy day yesterday ( mid summer - go figure ). Temp at this time of year is normally mid to high 30s ( Celcius ). Not many people near the tree 'cause there's a couple of Drop Bears making a home in it. It's their mating season and they're very aggressive. ![]()
