Hello guys, new player here! Been wanting to play Sh3 for a while and finally got it to work on my pc with all the mods...or mostly!
These are the mods I have activated in JSGME (in order)
GWX:
-16KM ATSMOSPHERE -ALTERNATE LOADSCREEN -CAPTAIN AMERICANS OFFICER ICONS -ENGLISH NAV MAP AND GRID REFS -ENHANCED DAMAGE EFFECTS -INTEGRATED ORDERS -LATE WAR SENSORS SNORKEL ANTENNAS -LITE HARBOR TRAFFIC -MAIN MOVIE DAS BOOT -NO MEDALS ON CREW -OPEN HATCH MOD --VIIC41 PLAYER SUB MEP V6 OPTIONAL - FSF FOR MEP V6 MEP V6 - VISUAL SENSORS FOR GWX3 OPTIONAL SHIPVANISHINGHULL FOR MEP V6 RBS1_SH3_EFFECTS_GWX_30_71 THOMSENS SOUND PACK V3.2 RAPTORS UNIFORMS V2 BLACK RAPTORS UNIFORMS V2 BLACK LEATHER SH3 COMMANDER ARB WIDE GUI 1920X1080 TYCHOSH3PATCH_V3 SUPPLEMENT TO V16B1 So far everything works (or atleast I think it does), except I get none of the new messaged supposed to come with the hardcoded fixes. These are the instructions I have to follow: "The new messages, which are required for some of the fixes, can be found in two files named _Append_to_en_menu.txt (english language) and _Append_to_de_menu.txt (german). As the filename suggests, the messages contained in these files must be appended to your individual en_menu.txt and de_menu.txt file of your sh3-installation. Instead of directly editing the files of your sh3-installation, I recommend the following procedure: a. Activate ALL your desired JSGME-Mods in the correct order. b. Copy both en_menu.txt and de_menu.txt of your sh3-installation into the (empty)\Data\Menu - folder of the Supplement-Mod. c. Append the new messages to the en_menu.txt / de_menu.txt files of your Supplement Mod." This is what I end up with:

It is important to have an efficient crew here, to timely detect both targets and threats. 181=One of the most important sections of the boat, the radio room keeps the connection with U-boat HQ alive, when surfaced. Underwater, the hydrophone becomes the boat’s ears, detecting targets beyond visual range and keeping the close range tactical situation under control. 182=The brain of the u-boat holds together all systems required to effectively command the u-boat. 183=The Diesel engines are the u-boat’s long range, surfaced, means of propulsion. Losing these will leave the boat practically immobile. 184=The silent electric engines are the u-boat’s means of propulsion for underwater travel. 185=Bearing most of your torpedo armament, this section represents the combat potential of your u-boat. An efficient crew assigned here will keep the reload times low. 186=The main accommodation area of the submarine is of vital importance in ensuring that the crew is rested and ready to do battle. Off duty crewmen should be assigned here. 187=Off duty crewmen should be assigned to either quarters to rest. 188=Of secondary importance for attack purposes, the stern torpedo room is also host to a number of mechanisms important for maneuvering the boat. 189=This is the mounting location for the deck gun. It should be used to engage lone merchants, targets not worth a torpedo or crippled ships that require a coup de grace. 190=Against aircraft, the u-boat’s best defense is diving. When that is not possible, the flak cannons should give any attacker something to worry about. 191=Off duty crew can be assembled in a Damage Control Team to assist repairing in critical sections of the u-boat. 200=Captain 201=Starting Year (1940) 202=Flotilla (2nd) 203=Difficulty 204=Start campaign 206=Enter new profile 210=MAIN MENU 211=GO TO GAME 212=Accept 213=v %d.%d 220=Officers 221= Petty Offs 222= Seamen 230=Qualifications 231=Decorations 232=Skills: 233=Patrols: 234=Renown: 240=Set German Ranks 245=bridge 246=sonar radio 247=command room 248=diesel engines 249=electric engines 250=bow torpedo 251=bow quarters 252=stern quarters 253=stern torpedo 254=deck casing 255=flak 256=damage control team 260=Europe is about to erupt into flames once again. There will be war, and the Kriegsmarine, not fully prepared, must still challenge the Royal Navy. The main target - British commerce shipping. The tonnage war is starting. 261=The war in the West has been successful, and bases on the French coast are now available for U-Boat operations. Through them, we will be able to reach out farther on to the shipping lanes of the British Empire. Britain’s control of the Atlantic is weakening. 262=Royal Navy’s control of the Mediterranean Sea needs to be challenged. Using the bases of our Italian allies, we must disrupt the flow of supplies to the British forces in North Africa while protecting ours. 263=Now in open war with the United States, the American eastern seaboard and the Caribbean Sea are set ablaze by the assault of long range U-Boats journeying from their pens in the Bay of Biscay. In the mid-Atlantic, however, the battle is still undecided. 264=The Battle of the Atlantic is turning against us. The Allies are committing more and more warships and planes to protect the vital shipping routes, and they are more efficient than ever before. 265=The war on the surface and beneath the waves grinds on. U-boat successes are falling away while losses mount. Simply returning from patrol alive is cause for celebration. 266=The Battle of the Atlantic continues to be desparately grim for our U-Boats. Our only chance lies in new technology. The new electro-boat may be the last trump of the Kriegsmarine. 270=1st Flotilla was founded in September 1935 under the command of Fregkpt. Karl Dönitz, the later BdU. Kiel, Germany, was the operational base at the beginning of the war. In June 1941 Brest, France, becomes the new 1st Flotilla operational base. The activity of the flotilla ended in September 1944 when it was disbanded. Initially, the 1st flotilla used the small coastal Type II boats. Later it switched to the larger Type VII. 271=2nd Flotilla was founded in September 1936 under the command of Fregkpt. Scheer. At the beginning of the war, the flotilla operated from Wilhelmshaven, Germany. From June 1940 the flotilla moved to Lorient, France. Its history ended in August 1944 when the last boats left Lorient for Norway. The 2nd Flotilla used Type VII and Type IX boats. 272=7th Flotilla was founded in June 1938 under the command of Korvkpt. Werner Sobe. Kiel, Germany was the operational base at the beginning of the war. The Flotilla was transferred in 1940 to St. Nazaire, France. In August/September 1944 most boats left the base for Norway with a number joining the reorganized 13th Flotilla at Trondheim, which operated until the end of the war. The 7th and 13th Flotillas used mainly Type VII boats. 273=10th Flotilla was founded in January 1942 under the command of Kptlt. Kuhnke with its operational base Lorient, France. In July 1943, boats sailed to Penang, near Malaya and operated throughout the Indian and western Pacific Oceans. The boats transferred to Jakarta in November 1944 and remained there until the end of the war. In total 40 Uboats were sent to the Eastern bases. The Flotilla uses the larger ocean going Type IX Uboats. 274=U-Flotilla "Lohs" was founded in October 1937 under the command of Kptlt. Hans Eckermann and existed until December 1939. The flotilla was re-founded as the 3rd Flotilla in March 1941 with its base in Kiel. In October 1941 the flotilla moved to La Pallice/La Rochelle, France. In August 1944 the last U-boats left for Norway with a number joining the reorganized 11th U-Flotilla at Bergen, which operated until the end of the war. The 3rd and 11th U-Flotillas used mainly Type VII boats. The first XXI boats were attached to 11th U-Flotilla. 275=23rd Flotilla was founded in September 1941 under the command of Kptlt. Frauenheim. Its base was Salamis and operational area was the eastern Mediterranean. After May 1942 the boats were attached to the 29th Flotilla, under the command of Korvkpt. Becker with the base at La Spezia. In August 1943 the Flotilla was transfered to Toulon, France where it disbanded in September 1944. The Flotillas used Type VII Uboats exclusively. 276=12th Flotilla was founded in October 1942 under the command of Korvkpt. Klaus Scholz with its operational base in Bordeaux, France. The Flotilla operated in the South Atlantic and the Indian Ocean. The flotilla's history ended in August 1944 by disbanding, and most of the boats left for Flensburg. To the 12th Flotilla were attached most of the long-range boats Type IXC and IXD. 277=30th Flotilla was founded in October 1942 under the command of Kptlt. Rosenbaum. Its base was Constanza and operational area was the Black Sea. 33rd Flotilla was founded in September 1944 under the command of Korvkpt. Schewe with the long range boats returned from the lost French bases. The flotilla's history ended in May 1945 when Germany surrendered. The Flotillas use Type IID, Type VII and Type IX Uboats. 300=Weapon expert 301=Able Sailor 302=Leading Sailor 330=Iron Cross Second Class 331=Iron Cross First Class 332=German Cross in Gold 333=Knights Cross 334=Knights Cross Oak Leaves 335=Knights Cross Oak Leaves and Swords 336=U-Boat Front Clasp 337=U-Boat War Badge 338=Wound Badge 360=Normal 361=Wounded 362=Dead 365=Watchman 366=Gunner 367=Flak Gunner 368=Radioman 369=Helmsman 370=Machinist 371=Torpedoman 372=Medic 373=Repair 399=Location not accessible! 400=Bury dead crew? 401=Quarters full! 402=No crew available! 403=Cannot move in the same compartment! 404=Cannot man the guns while in rough waters! 405=Cannot bury crew while submerged! 406=Not enough room! 407=Move crew to rest? 408=Quarters full! 409=Cannot assign dead crew to the repair team! 410=Cannot assign wounded crew to the repair team! 411=No crew available! 412=No crew available! 413=Already in quarters! 414=Not enough crew. 415=Quarters destroyed! 416=Compartment destroyed! 417=Not enough officers! However, if this failed then the ‘ladder-search’ would then ensure a hit. 624=T II (G7e)||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 30knots|Range: 5km|Guidance: none|Notes: The standard torpedo of the war. It suffered from early problems with its internal depth-keeping equipment, and its firing pistol but these were solved after the Norwegian Campaign. 625=T III (G7e)||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 30knots|Range: 5km|Guidance: none|Notes: Although is shared many components with the G7a, including warhead pistol,depth-gear and gyro-scope, the G7e was much simpler and cheaper. 626=T III FaT II (G7e)||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 30knots|Range: 5km|Guidance: ladder search pattern|Notes: Fat II was intended to be launched from the stern tube to attack pursuing escort warships and, following the initial ‘offset’ course change, its only patterns were either a long loop or a circle. 627=T IV (G7es)- Falke||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 20knots|Range: 7,5km|Guidance:|acoustic homing|Notes: Falke, the first homing torpedo, was fitted with a passive acoustic homing device. Few were used, as it was replace by the T5 that was faster, had a greater range and could be used with either magnetic or contact detonators. Specifications: Target moving at minimum 12 knots. 628=T V (G7es) Zaunkönig I||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 24knots|Range: 5,7km|Guidance: passive|acoustic homing|Notes: The weapon was designed to lock onto the loudest noise after a run of 400m from its launch. This often proved to|be the U-boat itself and standard issue-orders were to dive immediately to depth of 60m after launch from bow tube while a stern shot was to be followed by a complete silence in the boat. Specifications: Target moving at minimum 10 knots. 629=T I LuT I (G7a)||Propulsion: gas/steam|Speed: 44-40-30 knots|Range: 5-7.5-12.5km|Guidance: Ladder search pattern|Notes: The LuT, or angle-independent torpedo, greatly simplified the pattern running attack by removing the "90 degrees from target's heading" restriction of the FAT. 630=T III LuT II (G7e)||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 30knots|Range: 5km|Guidance: ladder search pattern|Notes: A further evolution of the pattern-running design, the LuT II added another angle to be set into the torpedo. This enhanced the torpedo's usability against escorts. 631=T XI (G7es) Zaunkönig II||Propulsion: electric|Speed: 24knots|Range: 5,7km|Guidance: passive acoustic homing|Notes: A modified T5, less affected by Foxer. Never used in battle conditions, although late test results were promising. 632=T VII (G7ut) Steinbarsch Walter||Propulsion: Walterturbine|Speed: 45knots|Range: 8km|Guidance: none|Notes: One of the first Torpedos with an Walterturbine. It was hoped this would both contain the U-boats' own noise and also reduce the reflected component of the hostile sonar. 1502=Tarnmatte||Tarnmatte was a compound of synthetic rubber and iron oxide powder which was used to coat snorkel heads to shield them from the Allied radar. 1560=GW Kapselgeblase||In order to raise the maximum engine power both German manufacturers employed different methods of supercharging. Germaniawerft engines uses a geared supercharger driven from the engine's main drive shaft. 1561=MAN Buchigeblase||In order to raise the maximum engine power both German manufacturers employed different methods of supercharging. Maschinenfabrik-Augsburg-Nurnberg used an exhaust-driven device. 1562=Snorkel||The Snorkel was a device that enable U-boats to run their air-breathing device engines for propulsion and to recharge their batteries while running underwater. 1563=AFA 36 MAK 580||The standard type of batteries fitted on Type II U-boats. 1564=AFA 44 MAL 570||The improved batteries for Type II. These batteries increased the Uboat underwater range. 1565=AFA 27 MAK 740||The standard batteries fitted on Type VII U-boats. 1566=AFA 27 MAK 800||This improved version of batteries for Type VII These batteries have smaller recharge times. 1567=AFA 33 MAL 800||These improved version of batteries for Type VII increase the U-boat underwater range. 1568=AFA 36 MAK 740||The standard batteries fitted in all Type IX U-boats. Later, they were used also on the new Type XXI. 1569=AFA 44 MAL 740||The second generation of batteries for Type IX. These batteries improved the Uboat underwater range. Later, they were used also on the new Type XXI. 1570=GHG (Gruppenhorchgerat)||The GHG, which was installed in U-boats from 1935 onwards, consisted of two groups of hydrophones mounted on each side of the bows, covering two arcs of 140 degrees on the sides of the U-boat. Under favorable conditions, single ships could be detected at about 20km. 1571=KDB(Kristalldrehbasisgerat)||The KDB was introduced in an effort to improve on the performance of the GHG. The KDB was located on the upper casing and could be rotated from within the U-boat, covering and arc +/- 160 degrees. It main disadvantage was its extreme vulnerablity to damage from depth-charges. 1572=Balkon Gerat||The Balkon Gerat was an improved version of GHG. This was a cylindrical device installed at the foot of the stern, in which 48 hydrophones were installed. This gave a major improvement in performance compared to the GHG, and covered and arc +/- 170 degrees. 1573=S-Gerat||The S-Gerat was an active system, transmitting pulses and using the received echoes to locate underwater objects. This pulses were easy for an enemy to detect the U-boat. It covered and arc of +/- 120 degrees and had an estimated range of 4,000m against surface vessels. 1574=Nibelung||The Nibelung was an improved type of active/passive device, capable to locate the position and approximate the speed of a target. Originally intended for the Type VIIC/42, it was eventually installed in the Type XXI, on the forward edge of the bridge, which preveted its use aft. It covered an arc of +/-140 degrees. 1575=FuMO-29 ‘GEMA’||The first U-boat radar was a converted set originally fitted in surface ships. It used a fixed array arround the front of the bridge. This gave coverage of about +/-10 degrees each side of the bows, which could be increased by altering course of even by turning the U-boat in a complete circle. 1576=FuMO-30||The next radar installation involved the same set, but with a new rotable antenna, covering full 360 degrees, which was mounted on the bridge and retracted into an oblong housing. 1577=FuMO-61 ‘Hohentwiel-U’||The Kriegsmarine looked urgently for a more effective replacement for the GEMA set and selected the Luftwaffe's FuMG-200. This was adapted for U-boat use as the FuMO-61 with a mattress-type antenna covering 360 degrees and better range. 1578=FuMO-64 ‘Hohentwiel Drauf|| A slightly modified FuMO-61 set, named FuMO-64 was installed in Type XXI boats. 1580=FuMB-1 ‘Metox’||FuMB-1 radar warning receiver was fitted from 1942 onwards. 1581=FuMB-10 ‘Borkum’||This new equipment covered the frequency band between 3 to 0.75 meters. 1582=FuMB-7 ‘Naxos’||Naxos covered the 9-12cm band. 1583=FuMB-26 ‘Tunis’||FuMB-26 was intended to counter the new 3cm radar, known to the Germans as 'Meddo'. 1534=FuMB-29 ‘Bali’ Antenna||This circular dipole antenna was placed on top of the snorkel, It could provide radar warnings when the U-boat was snorkeling.||Important GWX Notes:||Users should not select this device. The sensor is automatically fitted to the Uboat, once the optional 'Late War Snorkel Sensors' Mod is enabled via JSGME while in Base. 1535=FuMB-29 ‘Bali’ Antenna||This circular dipole antenna was placed on top of the snorkel, It could provide radar warnings when the U-boat was snorkeling.||Important GWX Notes:||Users should not select this device. A circular dipole antenna was placed atop the snorkel, providing radar warnings when the U-boat was snorkeling.||Important GWX Note:||Users should not select this device, as it will be automatically fitted to the Uboat. 1584=Bold 1||Bold was a chemical device intended to confuse hunters equipped with sonar. It consisted of a metal can which was released from a special launcher. It presented a false target to the attacker's sonar for a period of 3-5 minutes, enabling the U-boat to move slowly away. 1585=Bold 2||Bold was a chemical device intended to confuse hunters equipped with sonar.
