Default 3kyd Plotter (4k)

For those of us willing to destroy our eyes for smaller pixels. Note the "zoom level" portion of the readme, below.

3000 Yard/Meter Bearing Plotter
Original for SHIV by Rockin Robbins, 2009
Updated for multiple resolutions by Capn Scurvy, 2010
4K version by Baxder, 2025

This is a rework of previous mods that dealt with an in-game bearing plotter for the Navigation and Attack Map screens. Previous versions were compatible for both American and German side of play, at either Metric or Imperial measurements. This version is Imperial only (AFAIK - I have no idea what was done to the older mods for that compatability). I take no credit for its design, or changes to the original made many years ago. All I did with this version was double the .dds file sizes and figure out the right render options in paint.net.

This version is for 4K resolution only. For any other modern resolution, see Capn Scurvy’s version.

Besides the rescaling of the plotter for the various uses, Capn Scurvy changed the Maps.cfg to include an additional zoom level and tweaked the Attack Maps starting zoom level. Note that ships are too small to see at the initial “unit” zoom level, but at the next zoom level the tool takes up the entire screen. You can tweak the .cfg to your taste.

To install after downloading:

Extract the "3000 Yard Bearing Plotter" to the "MODS" folder of JSGME (in the root directory of Silent Hunter 4, Wolves of the Pacific folder). Activate the mod through the JSGME instructions. I recommend activation of the Bearing Plotter AFTER any other mods you have activated in JSGME. This will correctly have the mod run as intended.

=============

Credit for the initial Bearing Plotter goes to Pato back in the SHIII days. CaptainCox, 13th4l, NoWonderDog, Rockin Robbins, and Capn Scurvy have all had contributing work and revisions to the mod. Without their efforts I could not have completed my small part.
