SH5 WoS Black Screen Not Responding

So I decided to give Wolves of Steel a try. However, after loading the game,
I get the Ubisoft splash screen, then the Game Cut scene, then the splash screen for Wolves of Steel. Then a black screen that always ends in the game
Not Responding. Without fail, it fails! Anyone know what is causing this?????

I followed the instructions in the manual and did a completely clean reinstall of SH5 by removing the original game, and all it's folders. Then installed the game, then installed Wolves of Steel 2.26. These are the mods installed after the installtion was competely.

First thing that comes to mind: how long did you wait? As the message on initial start screen tells you, black screen after initial loading can last several minutes until the game actually starts.

You can try disabling SOAN in data/applications/OptionsFileEditorViewer/OptionsFileEditorViewer.exe just to check - this should shorten the black screen pause to several seconds.

It's TWoS recognition manual (aka "ships of all nations" - soan). Totally worth the 5 minute wait in serious playing as it contains helpful information for calculating target data, but when testing a mod or doing anything that requires restarting game often it helps to disable it for shorter load times.

Solved that problem, but now there's a new one.

When I setup a new campaign, set my preferences etc then click Start,
it loads for awhile, then the whole game crashes to desktop. Every single
time.

Here's my mod list for Wolves of Steel. No other mods are loaded.
