I'm sure its on the minds of everyone here so I'll ask and hopefully someone at a software company will notice.
I've loved simulation strategy games my whole life. I played Silent Service to death when it came out. I even remember an arcade version that I was lucky enough a few years back to play again when Disney Quest in Orland still had that 4 story arcade. For a 12 year old game, SH4 worts and all, this has some stellar mechanics and gameplay. But alas its aways going to be a dead end eventually. What are the chances a software company will pickup or build something like SH4 Atlantc/Pacific Theater in the future and how can we influence that? Lots of war sims now, but none have that simulation feel and immersion of SH4. Yeah I know its all about revenue at gaming houses, so if that forecast isnt profitable then low chance. But I can image a game, using modern UI and game engines, highly and easily moddable, being a hit with the niche community and selling well. With todays revenue model of DLC's and content packs it game certainly have some lasting income. Thoughts? |
