Dropping like flies.
A very funny man. Good in supporting roles. Loved him on the Carol Burnett show.

Tim Conway's passing is the major news story today in Hollywood; he was well-loved and admired by all aspects of TV and film and cited as an influence by many comic actors. Here's a couple of reasons why:
Conway would rehearse, minimally, the sketches he would appear in, but almost always took the scenes in directions well away from the script. He could improvise with great ease and he was a master at adlibs. He used to drive a car with the license plate "13 WKS" because a lot of the series he appeared in seldom lasted more than the network minimum of thirteen weeks. One thing that did last was Conway's masterful sense of humor and, as many people, both in and out of show biz, have been recalling in TV and radio interviews this morning, so did his generosity and compassion towards others. A lot of people don't know, but Conway was also a master furniture maker and enjoyed the craft immensely. He had been in failing health for a long time, mainly due to complications of Alzheimer's... I fondly remember seeing Conway on shows like McHale's Navy and The Carol Burnett Show and a great many guest starring roles in other series. He may be gone, but he will surely be remembered for a long, long time... RIP, Tim Conway; now you get another shot at making Harvey Korman crack up... <O>

I always thought Tim Conway was very underrated as a comic actor. I saw reruns of the Carol Burnett show where Tim Conway and Harvey Corman would start laughing in the middle of a scene and have a hard time finishing. They all looked like they were having a great time and enjoying working together. Both of these fine comedic actors could improvise. Carol Burnett and Vickie Lawrence could improvise as well.
I also remember Tim Conway as Ensign Parker along with Ernest Borgnine as Lt. Commander Quinton McHale in reruns of McHale's Navy. The show is very similar to the British radio program " The Navy Lark " that was broadcast around the same period. The cast of McHale's navy really brought the show to life. I miss all of them Rest in peace Tim and thanks for all the laughs and good times. Last edited by Commander Wallace; 05-14-19 at 07:37 PM. |
