I've been fooling around with GR2 editor yesterday... so, I thought all 3D models in SH5 use GR2 format, but I see many ships (PT boat imported from SH4 by TDW is one example) don't have any GR2 file in their folder. How come?

That Unit is an imported dat format.
You'll see UnitName.dat instead of UnitName.GR2 |

In addition to the dat-format ships mentioned by Jeff, there are ships whose cfg file points to the GR2/DAT file of other similar ships. This type of units lack a DAT/GR2 file of their own, and they are known as "proxy copies".
The Patroclus is an example of that; here the relevant strings of her cfg file: Code:
ClassName=AMCPatroclus 3DModelFileName=data/Sea/NAMC_Rawalpindi/NAMC_Rawalpindi |
