I think this writer is a little bit out of the line, he doesn't mention the Russian SOKS system for a start which is a working alternative to SONAR and has in the past given the Russian boats the upper hand over Western boats (Specifically the November class and USN boomer out of Spain in the 80's)
I do think he misses some points in this not just on the Russian side but also on the western side. https://southfront.org/submarines-to...a6Ax4DQrNx2KMA

I note a lack of detail in the article....simply scratching the surface (no pun intended) with patchy opinions.

Both the new Russian ICBM-capable hypersonic carrier vehicle - Avenger or how it was called - and the Chinese effort to make the deep blue seas transparent to deny submarines a hideout down there any longer, would make me worry more than this vague article. Es pecially the Russian thing is a concern, since it seems to be quite advanced in its development already. Above radar, an unpredictable flight path, high speed - not good to sit at the receiving end of its journey. The Russians were right when putting their money on efforts to defeat an enemy Star Wars defence system instead of building their own counterpart. Its easier to defeat such defences than to build them - and what there is, works not really assuringly well and reliable at all.
Carriers still are more vulnerable than subs, and in a war against an equal enemy on same eye level imo probably are already obsolete. Technical progress moves on, sooner or later submarines as we know them today will be a dinosaurs of the past, too. The future most likely are tiny, small autonomous underwater drones. Flying air drones. And rolling and walking land drones. Irregular war operation doctrines and tactics. Drones for president!

I would tend to agree with both of you, Russia already has UUV's as does the USN what level they have achieved is likely classified not only that it would be the same as UAV as well.
I think the future maybe in Drones possibly because its cheaper than employing a human to do the task and safer too, after all a drone doesn't need feeding a home to live as much rest and has no real emotional connection with a situation they are also cheaper to build and replace than a human plus there's no payouts or family to consider. However technology in SONAR and SOKS has moved on greatly so much so SOKS could make SONAR a secondary system in the near future. making this article redundant
