Ten people were killed and 15 others injured after a white van rammed pedestrians in Toronto today, police said. The driver is under arrest, Toronto police told ABC News. The suspect was identified as Alek Minassian, 25, sources told ABC News. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that while he's "just learning about the situation in Toronto, our hearts go out to any affected. We’re going to obviously have more to learn and more to say in the coming hours." Toronto's Mayor John Tory his "thoughts are with those affected by this incident." https://www.yahoo.com/gma/10-dead-va...opstories.html The driver, Alek Minassian ran pedestrians down in the street and on the sidewalk. This was over a 1.5 mile stretch. I just don't understand why anyone would want to do this. ![]() |

None of these types of things ever make any sense. Students with fully automatic weapons shooting others or adults with fully automatic transmissions running people down in a van.
Not sure how Canada reacts. I know here it would have turned into a political circus within hours. I hope Canadian authorities quietly and relentlessly pursue each lead and quickly put an end to it. I dont care what the guys motivation was. If found guilty take him out back for his last meal. |

In Canada, it will not become a political circus.
Bigger question is whether such events will become more commonplace in Canada. We have been incredibly lucky for a long time since "terrorists" (assuming of course this is the case here) have bypassed Canada. Whether this is because Canada is considered inoffensive (according to one theory) or whether "terrorists" use Canada as a safe haven (according to another theory) is debatable. What is clear is that Canada is a "soft target" and security experts have worried for years that "terrorists" may target Canada. As other targets like USA and Europe become "hard targets", I would not be surprised if we see a rise in such events in the near future. sad, but that is the world we live in.

What the heck is wrong with people what is this world coming too?
![]() https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/24/us/to...now/index.html "The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow the Chads and the Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger." Incel means involuntarily celibate people who believe they are denied sex by women due to their looks, social inadequacies, awkwardness and demeanor, Part of the investigation will include whether the suspect was motivated by his frustrations with women, Gibson said. While his victims are "predominantly female," he said, it's unclear whether he was bypassing men and targeting women. "We have no evidence of that at this stage," Gibson said. |
