Like the title says, I tried. I have spent more time the last couple weeks "trying" to get this to run than time spent playing.
I can run vanilla fine, but the mods seem awesome. I have been through S3F, CWX. and so on. Once I finally get the game to load after a whole lot of tinkering and starting over, I try to launch a mission and when it loads the game is stuck in pause. I have searched around about the corrupt .cnfg files sometimes, but that didnt help. Im on Windows 10, and purchased through Steam. Running it all as Admin, and compat mode with Xp sp3. I have however, ran the Steam Fix, made copies through S3F, and have none installed to the Programs Directory as stated several places. Im about as confused as this post probably reads......sorry bout that. Im out of ideas.... |

Did you patch SH3.exe with the 4 GB expansion utility? This will give more memory to the game, very important for extensive mods. I have the same trouble with the mega-mod WAC 5.01 currently, so this utility doesn't make miracles, but it's a must-have to load I think.

Yes, I had that enabled in S3F as well.

The game loads, you are in mission, but it is paused and you cannot un-pause it?
or it freezes up? if the game pauses and is stuck in pause no matter what you do to adjust time compression or unpause - this is a known issue with an easy fix see this thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=176726

What is 'S3F'? It sounds like 'SH3 something', but I'm not sure what.
Another possibility: After playing the game stock did you try loading GWX on top of that? The GWX manual specifically states that it must be loaded onto a 'Clean' (i.e. unplayed) copy of the game or else it will get corrupted.

Hi CM
Sorry to hear about your continuing problems. I see you used BL!TZKR!EGS S3F front end to convert from Steam. You state that you have not re-installed in the Program Files (x86) directory? What is the path to your SH3 installation? Have you been able to run the stock game in your new installation path? Did you first enter the Naval Academy to setup your SH3 save game folder? Can you see this folder when you go to your Documents folder? By CWX do you actually mean GWX If yes then with GWX you must also install a config file as well to work with it. Windows 10 does nut support SH3 and has to use a compatibility mode such as Windows 7 which works well without any problems. Changing to use the compatibility mode will stop the game crashing before you reach the command room. It is also important that your applications like SH3,exe and any others are run as administrators as you are doing. This will stop the game intermittently crashing before you reach the games main menu. Peter ![]()
