No, you cannot save during a battle. You can only save when not in contact or in port.

Well this is a bit of a problem considering I've spent considerable time in certain battles only to have the game crash to desktop mid battle a few times. It's frustrating to say the least. I have the ocean detail set at low as well as no trees. I don't have a dedicated GPU on my laptop but I do have an i5 plus 4GB ram.

I couldn't wait..I HAD TO GO..When I returned my sub had 2 nice holes in it and I was forced to abandon ship...But my body count was 2 kashin 1 kara 2 transports...Got a bronze star...
