No U boat number?

While playing SH5 WoS Campagin I noticed that at the top my journal my U boat number is listed as U-** followed by what looks like gibberish or a bugged German name maybe suppose to be my captains name?. U-** also shows up when receiving radio messages. In KSD Commander my u boat number shows is as U-34 but not in game.

And while I am on the subject of KSD my version seems to be different then the one showed in the the pdf read me and the instructions are unclear, can I not still select a photo and write a biography? there is no "Edit" button where it should be. Sorry for all the questions there just do not seem to be any obvious answers.

Journal U-number and name are controlled by the OptionsFileEditorViewer which is an external settings program provided with the mod. Once you run it and set up the file paths the settings that apply are under the "Ships Journal" tab.

KSP reads the ship number directly from the game files and doesn't have to be set equal. I wouldn't worry about the KSD manual/program mismatch. KSD is nice to randomize gramophone records but mostly I don't see much value in it.
