How come posts to old threads don't show?

Neal just made a post in the Syria WMD thread bumping it back to the front page but if you go into the thread his post won't show.

Same thing happened to me with the gun control thread. Is there some kind of "necro rule" to keep these threads from becoming active again?

Sometimes it just takes a guy with the right amount of know-all.

Other times it's just luck. This was one of those times.
