Default End of My Patrols?

Looks like I have sailed my last patrol in SH4, after 10 glorious years.

I have just installed a GeForce GTZ 1060 6GB and a 28 inch monitor. SH4 refused to even open, all my other games work perfectly. I reinstalled it, and, under compatibility settings test program, the intro runs and - thats it! BANG!

I am going into SH5 forum now to see if I can run a US sub ?

What OS are you using? I'm using a 1070 GTX on a 27" monitor and it runs fine. My OS BTW is Win 10 Ultimate. What version of SH4 are you running?
Have you set the resolution of SH4 to that of the native resolution of your monitor?

I put the monitor in before this card, running on an AMD RX 380, and SH4 ran fine, no hitches but a rare crash now and then.

Now its on the Geforce card, it wont run. My spec is a quad core i7 intel with 16GB ram and Win 10.

the following games run fine:

The 3 x X3 games
Far Cry 2
Unreal 2
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Dark Star 1
Many puzzle game (about 50 odd)
Age of Empires HD 2
Talos Principle
Banished
Deponia

so why not SH4 ??

I ran a RX 380 before moving on to the 1070. Still same questions, have you set the resolutions correctly and what version of SH4 are you running. Also is SH4 a download or a DVD install?

Did you match the monitor's "Native" resolution to Windows, and that to Silent Hunter? In other words, my old-timie NEC has a "native" resolution of 1280x1024. That is what I have my Windows resolution set to in the video card's controller. Once in the Silent Hunter 4 menu, I choose Options, and then the graphics settings, I set the game to 1280x1024 75Hz and it runs fine... You'll have to find the "Native" resolution of your monitor first. All that means is how many pixels it actually has to draw a picture with.

I thought I've just asked that same question twice now.

Hi RD
I am running Windows 10 without a compatibility mode.
28" Asus monitor 1920 x 1080 60Hz in its native resolution.
GPU Geforce GTX770 4gb
SH4 Game graphic settings 1920 x 1080 60Hz

You need to make sure of the following settings.

Set the SH4 games graphic setting to match your monitor's resolution and hertz rate.

reports of my demise were slightly premature. I tried it through all the settings on the monitor, and finally got one to work; it seems that the resolution was not to SH4 liking even though its in the game settings?? Anyway, its back and now I have to go through the mods to try and remember what I had installed!! Hey ho and pull up the anchor!! As it happens I came up on the same settings as Berbster!!!!
