I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Ron Glass. 71 is too young. I remember him from reruns of Barney Miller and " the cast of thousands " who would occupy the jail from time to time. Ron Glass portrayal of straight man Detective Harris was known for his sardonic and dry wit. Abe Vigoda who played Sal Tessio in more dramatic gangster roles also had a dry, comedic streak.
I think it was forum member Vienna who had said that Hal Linden who played Barney Miller was an accomplished clarinet player. Hal Linden I found was more than accomplished, his forte being Jazz. Perhaps lesser know was the fact that Hal Linden could also sing. All in all, Barney Miller had a great cast and Ron Glass helped make it the show that it was. Rest in peace Ron. |
