I can play as a British MTB boat...or a German Schnellboot...but no American PT boats?! This is EXTREMELY disappointing for me. My grandfather was quartermaster on PT-556, and he was really looking forward to me showing him this game.
This is like calling a game "B-17" and then having nothing but Lancasters to fly! ![]()

I believe a game Battlestations Pacific has real PT boats in it.

Before the obvious post appears chiding OP by stating that PT boats operated in multiple theaters, which is true, if you sell a game in the US with 'PT" on it, people will ALL assume the PTO, President Kennedy, etc.
For the US, include the PTO, or rename it MTB: KotS or something, PT carries way too much implication in this market. If you made a game to sell in Russia about tanks and it was just Shermans on Okinawa, Russians would be rather disappointed, no? |

Well, let's see. The German boats were S-boats for Schnellboot...the British were called MTB boats...The Italian boats were called MAS boats...The Russian boats had TK designation. The American boats were called PT boats. So yes... "PT-Boat" should be the American one.

I agree with those who think the game title is kind of a "bait and switch". If it were named Schnellboot, MTB, Coastal Patrol or anyhting other than PT Boats, I might have bought the game, but the difference is I would have been satisfied. Leaving the Pacific out was a grave mistake for this game.

As Unkle Neil seems to be thinking otherwise in his PT Boat review since for him: the ELCO, KOMSOMOLETS, VOPSER, G5 are PT boats. ![]() "In all, there are some 12 or so PT boats to control, from the Elco, Komsomolets, Vosper and sub-like G5. Each boat is represented well with different guns and controls, and the game physics lend an authentic feel to the way they handle, turn, and drift. Unlike helosims and tanksims I have reviewed, I do have some experience driving speedboats and PT Boats shines here. You can also control the direction of destroyers, subs, and merchants, but not actually" |
