Personally I'd say snowboard games have the best soundtracks.
![]() 1. the full Cool Boarders 2 soundtrack (can't find my fav track from it on youtube but you can get a fair idea about it through ) 2. SSX 3 : ![]() 3. SSX Tricky (this one is bad-ass, really, my FAV one from the whole SSX serie) : More to come. ![]() ![]()

@ TLAM :
![]() @ Oberon : I'll look deeper into this guy's discography. While we're talking about japanese people, let's mention Akira Yamaoka. Listen to (from the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack), I'm sure you're going to love it. ![]()

I came across 'Promise' in a mod for another game, the 'Reprise' version and yes, I fell in love with it then.
![]() Uematsu did just about every Final Fantasy soundtrack from II through to XI, as well as working on the soundtrack for Chrono Trigger. I would list my favourites of his...but to be honest, just choosing a couple is very hard, One Winged Angel and Dancing Mad are very epic though. ![]() Last edited by Oberon; 09-06-10 at 11:53 AM. |

When you mention original soundtracks, I think of titles where the music was used to maximum effectiveness ingame. In that regard, I would hold Myst to be an excellent example. Yes, it is synthesized and dated, but it was very atmospheric.

Would say
Shogun Total War has a great OST: (this has to be one of my favorite) and Lords of the Realms II also had great music for it's time, the music kept me in the mood: and HunterICX

This. Frank Klepacki does some awesome work, outside of the C&C series as well.

The Homeworld games.
The stuff from Suda51's games go into ear-worm territory too. |

I don't know Klepacki had anything to do with those, but I thought they were pretty good. [QUOTEHunter ICX] Shogun Total War has a great OST [/QUOTE] I never played Shogun but I think some of the battle soundtracks from Medieval and Empire games are great, so it wouldn't surprise me if Shogun was good too. I feel the same way about Homeworld. The battle soundtracks were great but sitting through forty minutes of the "nothing is going on" soundtracks while you mine resources after you've killed everyone but before you make a jump were just punishing. I think an industrial-sounding track would have been more interesting. I mean, the music wasn't bad for the setting, but when it was combined with the extremely tedious wait for resource vessels to make their trips and the repeat of the same track, it got really boring. Thank God for the "quick harvest" option in Homeworld 2. Quote:
It becomes particularly awesome at 2:08 ![]()

The ones I can think of right now are Crimson Skies, Arcanum and Homeworld.
EDIT: Oh, and some of the C&C games too. Not all the tracks were very good, but some were quite awesome.
