Once you get (the easiest) a new boat with the tower cut down to expose the cigarette deck AA mount you can shoot surface ships, lifeboats, survivors etc.

This usually happens toward the mid to the end of 1942 depending what mods you are using. I don't know what mods you are using and I don't think anyone made a mod for the S-class that cuts down the tower... (I could be wrong)

Just a FYI I've been playing SH4 1.5 since it hit the market, new to this forum in a sense, not new to this game.

What I'm asking about is Mod that lets the Anti Aircraft Gunners target and fire at ships independently of you taking control of them yourself. Like a real crew would be doing instead of spacing out at their battle stations as shells rip past their faces and destroy the boat.
I just think it would add another touch of realism if nobody has made one.

Doesn't that make sense ? Be able too give same commands as with the deck gun for ships with the AA. Especially with the larger caliber weapons 40mm and 3.7cm. It would free the bridge to control the boat and pick out targets.

We could really use more firepower while on surface night attacks, Could you please put your best Engineering Elves on this.

As far as I know, no such mod exists.

I like the idea, though. I've read a number of accounts of subs going in with the deck gun, AA guns, bridge mounted .50s, and even crewmen with BARs and Thompsons.
That would be impressive to see.

I just watched some U.S footage on youtube and it looked like that was all they were using on some of the smaller ships, junks and boats, barges.

Also I remember watching another documentary with a german boat doing the same thing at night, Off the U.S east coast, cruising slow firing up a burning tanker with the AA gun it was all tracer going out. Think it was off of Florida not sure why.

But yeah if I could use my B.A.R as well that would be great too
