Hello All.
Kylania, who a lot of you will know, very kindly through teamviewer, installed SH5 and all the mods, updates to my computer, I am not a computer buff unfortunately. This wonderful Sim is now right up to date and running perfectly on my W10. My desktop computer is getting a little old in the tooth, like me, and I'm afraid that if my hard drive dies I lose the Sim. I have a spare external hard drive that I can use. I would like to copy the sim as it is now and load it into that spare HD, and if need be it can then be copied again in it's entirety back to a new computer or hard drive. I don't know how to go about this, could someone please tell me how and believe me I would be extremely grateful. Regards, Jim zl2bmh. |

Hi Jim
Wouldn't that be wonderful if that worked. One would never need to purchase SH5 again. Unfortunately IMO it is not that simple for 3 reasons. Your game is locked for life to your original system by 3 things. Email address Password. CD key. Wherever you copy the game back from it would still need to be seen in the Control Panel Program and Features as an installation on your new system. I might be totally wrong, but it is just my logical intuition talking here as to why I think this is a non starter. If it can be done then Sjizzle is your man. Good luck Peter

@ZL2BMH
here is the solution without installing the game Step.1 copy the sh5 folder ( with mods and all what u have in that folder ) to an external drive or to0 other Hard drive. Step.2 Unsitall SH5 from your computer here i mean the old sh5 do not unsintall uplay! Step.3 go where u have copied the sh5 folder and then go to the mods folder ===> TWoS ===> data ===> Application ===> SH5 validator and from there run SHValidator.exe and follow the steps this one will add the entry to the registry and u can run sh5 like was installed where u have copied ![]()

Another idea is to clone the whole HDD as a backup just in case something happens to you original HDD you are now using. And a clone can also be use on any computer you have, even with a different motherboard and processor.
It's easiest to do this with Seagate HDDs as they have free software to make your clone.
