Icon8 Never nighttime

Greetings fellow submarine enthusiasts!

I'm currently playing a vanilla SH3 career on my 8th patrol in '41 and I've encountered a strange bug that I can't find much information about through google. For some reason it's never fully night time in this particular patrol as the later hours (2200-0400) are still illuminated, although dim. Think of it as a kind of twilight. The problem is planes are able to attack me 24/7 and I can't recharge my batteries at all. I returned to base and started patrol number 9 and the problem resolved itself. Though this is annoying since I wasted a perfectly good patrol
Has anyone encountered this issue?

Hi Newtee2 Welcome to Subsim Re never night time in the summer months on cloudless nights it can be like twilight when on patrol in the north Atlantic also if your near land that has airbases in the land Layer then Aircraft will spawn in your area and has the war progresses these air patrols will increase do you use the Commander Mod if not Link Below
it will enance your SH3 Game

What was your patrol grid? Was it summer?

Adding to what the 2 above me said.

During the summer months, if you go north, you won't see total darkness. Far enough north and you will have close to daylight 24 hours a day. Just like in the real world. Even in spring, things brighten up considerably but it's during the summer months it will become a major factor.

Real world tracking of the sun around midnight far north in the summer.

What fast replies thanks guys!

I was in grid AM in between Ireland and Britain (headed north to try and intercept convoys) and my assigned patrol area was AM74. It's currently June and I was noticing little to no daytime as early as BF13 iirc. I always thought SH3 didn't follow changes in daylight patterns.
