Default Space Tourism

So, I never really put much stock into alien abductions, sightings, etc. There isn't much proof, just sketchy eye witness reports, little repeatable evidence. The plural of anecdote isn't data.

The other reason I never believed is because there is no motive. Why would a highly advanced civilization come to our planet, not make official contact, slaughter a couple cows, and violate some poor redneck?

Souvenirs, that's why.

Think about it. Our moon is placed exactly in a position, where during a solar eclipse, it perfectly occludes the sun. The geometry to produce this is so very specific, that when you think about the chances of it happening, it must be extremely rare. We are probably one of the few planets in the galaxy that has a moon in such perfect position relative to it's parent star.

So we're a tourist destination. Aliens from all over sneak onto our planet to observe the phenomenon. What do we do when we're on vacation? We mess with the locals and take souvenirs.

It starts to add some plausibility to random Alien sightings.

(Written some what tongue in cheek, but it still makes you stop and think for a sec)

I often wondered why the same type of people get abducted. I mean if I were a
'highly advanced' alien race I think I would have better taste. I'm picking Jennifer Lawrence over Luanne Trailerpark any time. Maybe they have different tastes. Just sayin'.

Maybe we should look in the mirror to find these aliens.

Are we of this planet? All species on earth act in harmony with nature except us. We are not satisfied with what paradise we've got, seek to find an other planet while destroying this one.

Our ancestors might have had an interspace travel accident and finally stranded on this planet. Too few to populate a society, they found a peaceful undeveloped pre-human species and blew some spirit (DNA) into it. These 'true gods' died after some years, but left some demigods - or demi-humans - to be our ancestors in history.

Maybe we have some DNA fragments not of this world in us? Has someone checked?

... and the earth will be blown up for the interstellar Highway M734 on sunday, march 26th.

Why do you complain, the plans have been lieing around in the IU (Interstellar Union) bureau at Alpha Centauri for the last 200 years.

We used to live in harmony with nature. During the ''barbarian'' pagan times.
Wildlife was never overhunted, trees were never clear cut, man took what man needed and man left what nature needed to continue thriving.
And then the abrahamic religions arrived with their ''man is master'' philosophy.

I disagree with that particular plea to cause-and-effect.

We didn't live in harmony with nature. We survived any way we could. We didn't overhunt wildlife or clear-cut trees for the simple reason that we couldn't. Man was on the defensive, which was likely the first reason for building walled towns and cities. Man took everything he could, even then. He just couldn't take enough to make a difference.

We didn't start the wholesale slaughter until we could, and as soon as we could we did. This was a very long time after the appearance of the "Abrahamic" religions.

That's true.
But the pagan folklore was based a lot around nature, especially slavic paganism. Man did not feel itself to be above nature.
I know going from a cause and effect to an ''if'' scenario is never good in a debate but what would the current impact on the environment today be, if we didn't took on the ''man above nature'' stance.
