Hey
I just started playing SH3, with some mods (mainly gwx3, OLC and ACM). Hitting something is nigh impossible, but I didnt expect anything else. The hits will come. A big problem is trying to do an attack at night. Is it normal that the attack periscope is so useless? All i see is red and a very dim shadow of the ship (if im lucky). Its just impossible to use those OLC wheels to make a calculation. Even in calm weather and a calm sea, I cant see anything but red at night. The regular periscope shows me some greenish colour, but it's much more clear. Even just looking outside through the eyes of a watchman gives a clearer view. |

hmm, in the naval academy it's a lot better. Strange. Could it really be that much of a difference? In my career it is so red ...
Could it be the fact that its just a type II sub? I notice its particularly bad in the North Sea. Last edited by Piojo; 01-16-16 at 05:07 PM. |

In crap weather or moonless nights, it can be frustrating. On a full moon in good weather, it can be just as frustrating as they can spot the wake of your scope from 3200m or more and start to zig-zag.
It will never perfect, trust your instinct and use your lock button, set fish to shallow and fast, magnetic - good hunting ![]()

I uninstalled and reinstalled some mods and the problem appears as soon as I install ACM for OLC. It's as if there is a red filter on my periscope.

Ok, that actually sounds like a fault of some sort - like one mod setting conflicting with another.
Hopefully a modder in this forum will read this and can help you

I think i have found the issue. It seems Karamazov's filter is the problem.
When I put a ";" in front of all the lines in the menu.ini concerning karamazov's filter and thus disabling it, my attack periscope no longer has the red filter. Dark is now just dark and no longer red. |

A "cheat" you can try is to adjust the screen resolution for brightness on your monitor. Try a brighter or higher resolution setting. Sometimes this makes the nights brighter, but has not effect on actual gameplay.

GWX is very dark at night. I thought I messed up the install when I first played it. It just takes some getting used to. I can't remember what scope filter I used with GWX. Green I think. I'm currently hanging out in NYGM, but I'm missing GWX. It's a great mod!! Have fun!!
