You may remember I told you about my 11 year old Niece who's a Mensa-child.
I thought she was Mensa in every way-Math, science a.s.o Weill I was told her Mensa is in the linguistics area He's a short story about her linguistics skills She learned by herself, with a little help from her mom, to read and write when she was about 4½-5 year old(well write as good a child in that age can write) When she was about 9 years old she learned by herself in about three month, with a very little help from her mom, English and we are not talking about simple school English-We are talking about the English you learn on university like Cambridge. My sister has put a hold on her-saying to my Niece-cool down sweetheart- When it comes to math and science she's way over average She still got anxiety attacks now and then Markus |

Has she been tested for possible Asperger's Syndrome? She has quite a few of the symptoms and the condition may account for her anxiety attacks and her other situations. Asperger's is not a disability, but, rather a condition that allows for high-functioning life and may include a significant tendency towards high intelligence and achievement, though it can affect social interaction and assimilation. It may be something to look into and explore...
I hope your niece has continued progress in the easing of her symptoms and difficulties and I wish her all the best. At least she has a good uncle looking out for her... <O>

Thank you for your reply
From what I understand she's not suffering from this Asperger's Syndrome. They, the teachers, have noticed her very high skill and are giving her lesson or extra task(can't remember the exact word)that student in 7, 8 and 9 class use to do. It's not the first time I hear about a person who has a very high IQ, also has some type of psychological problem or some kind. Markus |

![]() Asperger's was once classified as a mental illness here in the US; it has only fairly recently been reclassified as a part of the autism spectrum and is now being treated as such. A great many of the notable people of science and other disciplines are believed to have been affected by Asperger's including Einstein, Alan Turing, Tesla, pianist Glenn Gould, Isaac Asimov, and actor/comedian Robin Williams. High capabilities in one or more fields is a hallmark of the syndrome and, once persons with Asperger's are diagnosed, a fully functional and achieving life is very possible...
It is good to hear her teachers are supportive of her and her abilities. So often children who may not be "of the norm" are marginalized and made to feel unnecessarily "different". I hope she will continue to have their support... <O>

Another thing. This anxiety runs in the family especially on my mother side-Had two Uncles and an aunt suffering from this. I also had an elderly sister who also suffered from anxiety. Even I have a a small case of this- Get very anxiety when my ears goes berserk(very high pitch tone or some other "test" tone) Markus |
