Scubamatt toured the USS Drum at Battlefield Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama last week and sent me a copy of the tour book, a fabulous map sized brochure with an x-ray view diagram of the sub that is about 18" long! And he included this commemorative medal, which I'll show both sides so all of you can enjoy it as much as I do.
Imagine: this boat conducted 13 war patrols, both from Australia and Pearl during the war with patrols averaging two months apiece and was the number 8 tonnage producer in the war. The tour book and brochure just burst with the pride of the people who work to preserve and present this submarine to the public. Thank you Scubamatt. These mementos of that great boat and the men who served on her are just an amazing gift.
