Where has all the enemy gone???

I've completed about 6 or so missions but can't complete the last one. I'm told to engage in enemy shipping in the South Chine Sea but there is no enemy on the map anymore. I'm not getting any reports of any contacts closing or moving away any longer, nor crossing paths with any enemy ships.
Is this a known bug issue for some odd reason?
It's July 17, 1942... there's a lot of war left but no enemy to hunt down.
No, I haven't sunk them all. Only about 28 of them.

Got any ideas, guys?

I'm running GFO.

Have you been ending the patrol after your missions, or just refitting? In order to facilitate faster loading the game only load six months at a time. If you do nothing but refit over and over you will run out of time and everything will disappear.

If you've been ending the patrols and starting over, then ignore this message.

How long have you been on patrol?

The game loads a certain section of the traffic files. If you stay on patrol for a long time (six months, maybe?), the game doesn't have data to load traffic. You'll need to return to base and end patrol, and it will load new traffic data when you start the next one.

It's also possible that you're just in a dead zone. You could try hunting elsewhere.

Well, now, I've only refitted because the game keeps reassigning me to another area. I'm still on my first mission with about 6 or so completed sub missions but this last one I can't complete. There's no enemy anywhere.
December '41 to July '42... about 7 or 8 months. (The game made me do it.)
Yes, I have been all over and up and down the Asian coasts and can't find one Jap ship anywhere.

I haven't wanted to end it leaving an incomplete on my record.

Are you using RSRD? if so I believe there is a patch for people that are experiencing your very problem.

You don't have to complete any of those missions. The game doesn't know the difference.

And there won't be. You're better off going home after each patrol. It was very rare to spend more than two months at sea. If you've ever been cooped up in a warship you'll know why. It's even worse on submarines.

The good news is there are no records, at least not of that type. You might get in trouble for not sinking enough ships, but never for not completing a mission. Many of the missions are totally unhistorical anyway.

Dang... that's a long time to be at sea.

My patrol ends when I'm out of fish or after 2months of patrolling, then I set sail for home, I stop asking for new assignments (press the envelope) by the time I run out of 'spare' torpedoes for the bow tubes and have only 2 fish left for aft.
Obviously Bingo Fuel and hull damage overrides all.
