Default Not a spambot!

New to the subsimming world and I mean really new.

I have been interested in simulations for a while, but as an Ubuntu user that can be...sketchy. My first foray into the simming world was probably with the native flight sim for linux I forget the name, I could never fly that Cessna straight anyway... mostly as I don't have a nifty joystick. Unfortunately, but hohum.

Instead I then had my interest piqued with the naval side of things. Ships have never really inspired me, apart from aircraft carriers, but I suspect that they inspire everyone if only with their sheer size. Instead I was always drawn the technical stealthy nature of Submarines. "Hit first, hit hard and gtfo" rinse and repeat. That said finding good modern subsims has been a little elusive.

I first found Danger from the Deep aka DangerDeep but WWII sims are really... not what I'm looking for when I look for a submarine sim. Though I can see why WWII would be appealing, lots of action after all. DangerDeep provided me with an added interest into the Subsimming world and so I went looking for something modern. Hence Dangerous Waters... it might be a multi-command thing but hey, I can command a Seawolf or a Los Angeles class submarine so I'm happy.

Still, I have not a clue how to play. I can barely get through an easy quick mission or a one start mission and this is without any mods (dunno how to install them so...). I actually came here looking for advice on a few things and then found FPSChazly, granted that was actually an entire coincidence. I found his "Sinking the Nimitz" gameplay and it helped me understand more in fifteen minutes than looking at the manual for an hour. Those tutorials were also helpful as well. Needless to say I thought I could also add to the community via some helpful contributions particularly with installing and wine.

I look forwards to being an active, friendly and helpful member of the community here, particularly with regards to Dangerous Waters, for the time being at least .

edit:
Ps. Decided to write an introductory message as I spotted a welcome post in a thread and I'd love not to be the cause of any threadjacking >.<
