just lost my boat. im pig sick. over 22.000 tones. 1942 outside Gib. attacked a convoy. sank a Granville and large merchant. started texting my son and another friend exstolling on my skills as a seasoned Kaleun. they pinged me at a 100 meters but I was being clever thinking they wouldn't get me as I made little audio recoding's of the cans exploding all around. I was warned and warned but I didn't listen. next thing
![]() im actually quite angry with myself and disappointed too. so remember - no texting whilst diving.

I just got rammed and sunk at periscope depth whilst reading the newspaper. I was making a slow approach to a task force that seemed to be asleep but one Tribal was wide awake.
The enemy never give one a minutes' peace. Oh well, back to the obituaries... KH |

I had recently sunk a small cargo hauler which had belonged to the Netherlands on my way back to Kiel. I was perhaps a day or so from safe waters, so I cranked that time passage meter to a 512 and went away to make a cup of tea.
5 minutes later I returned to find a trauler ripping my IIA with machine gun fire. With a shallow depth of 30 below keel, she sunk me quick, from diving periscope and repairing whilst taking on water, to blowing ballast in order to negate taking on water but being raked with fire on the surface. It was a frustrating and embarrassing experience. And who owned that armed trauler? The Netherlands. |
