I don't find that Darwin worthy. The guy has been unemployed for some time and probably had mental issues. Sometimes such people just want to escape into a world in which they are powerful, worthy, accepted, liked etc... and they often only find that in video games and then develop an addiction. To me that guy was just a sad person in need of help.

Uneducated or not, if sitting on a chair or playing on so long (3 days!!) that you do not even realise your cardiovascular system collapsing or your brain passing out, then that is - well, to me its a candidate for a Darwin Award.

Even an epileptic or depressive patient feels and reports on such physical symptoms.

Tragic is the reaction of the other guests in that cafe when the guy was shaken by spasm or what it was: they did not react at all. Maybe a case for the state attorney...?

That seems to be fairly common in Asia. I often watch motorcycle accident videos on Youtube to learn from the mistakes the riders (or car drivers) made (I'm a motorcyclist myself) in order to prevent getting into a similar situation myself and often I can see in Asian crashes that people simply don't give a ... even if someone is down and in pain or unconscious. They just drive on as if nothing had happened.

It reminds me of long late-night D&D sessions we used to have when that game was popular. Of course, none of us died, but we sometimes had game 'hang-overs'.

Agreed...probably thought this was the only way of maintaining some self esteem, worth and purpose in life.

I visited Kaohsiung a couple of times in the 70's, no internet cafes in those days but nor were there anywhere else I suppose.

We would start at 7PM and quit at 8AM. Sleep some and do it all over again, Friday and Saturday nights only.

Was he urinating into a bag?
Those do need to be drained on occasion.

Maybe he was one of those Chinese gold farmers. <shrug>

This isn't uncommon in China/Asia, just unreported, so much so that o/l gaming is banned between certain age groups and hours, google my friends. Makes 'South Park' WOW episode real !!!!

Best regards.
