Which program can I use to edit the basic.cfg file? And where can I get it?
I have spent ages looking through the archives, and there are loads of references to it being done. But I just cannot find a posting which tells you how. Any help appreciated. Many thanks. Kuckoo |

use notepad. don't use winpad or winword. Any pure text editor.

As an alternative to Notepad recommended by raymond6751 which is already embedded inside your Windows, you might want to try Notepad++. It is Notepad on steroid.

Notepad is fine, but any word processing program will work. The only thing that matters is that you save the file in plain text (.txt) format. In MS Word, for instance, if you use the Save command, the file will be saved in the same format it had when it was opened. If you see that the saved file has a different attribute (like Basic.cfg.txt), for instance), just rename it Basic.cfg.

I use Notepad++ if for no other reason than unless you specifically delete a tab they all remain open next time you start it up. Handy indeed should you ever accidentally cock up and delete the edited file. Not that I'd ever do that.

Many thanks, gents.
I will work through your various suggestions to see whether even a duffer like myself can find something that works. Regards Kuckoo |
