SHO Damm Aircraft!

I have forgotten how nasty the Med could be. Twice now Ive had to limp back home after air attacks. The first time I had only sank 1 ship the second time (in a row) I got a big fat goose egg.

I cant wait for radar warning.

At least, you managed to return back to base. It could've been much worse. Inside the Med, little advice will be useful against air attacks since almost the whole area abounds in Allied aircraft patrols. You should avoid the vicinity of enemy bases, especially Malta and spend more time underwater even in perfect visibility as if you did normally in the Atlantic.
By the way, my primal rule against aircraft is never try to engage it but always order a crash dive as soon as your WO reports the contact. Only use the deck gun if you're unable to dive. According to my experiences diving fast is the best method against air attacks.

The Mediterranean was a tough environment for subs, be they German, Italian or British. Under the clear, azure water conditions even a submerged sub was easily visible from the air up to a 100 feet below the surface as a sort of large shadow.
